Monika Kuffer is working as Assistant Professor at the Faculty ITC (University of Twente, The Netherlands). She received her PhD from the University of Twente (NL), one MSc in Human Geography (TU Munich, Germany) and a second MSc in Geographic Information Science (University of London, UK). Her research focuses on urban remote sensing, SDGs, mapping deprived areas (e.g., slums), and analyzing urban form and dynamics. She is co-chairing a network on deprivation area mapping IDEAMAPS (https://ideamapsnetwork.org) and is working on two research projects, SLUMAP (http://slumap.ulb.be) and ACCOUNT (https://slummap.net). Her research is driven by providing spatial information to support planning and decision-making processes in complex cities, towards inclusive, liveable and sustainable cities. She is part of the steering committee of the Joint Urban Remote Sensing Event (JURSE) (http://jurse.org/), the Dutch representative of the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories (EARSeL) (http://earsel.org/) and member of several editorial boards.
